Roadblocks in life will present themselves in many different forms. You will face adversity on a personal level, a professional level and you will even experience it in your leisure time. How you react and respond to this adversity is what will separate you from the rest. You can allow the negativity to enter your thoughts and set you back in your goals or you can use it as fuel to prove the haters wrong and show them what you’re really made of. Which way will you decide to go?
If you have ever been told that you’re wasting your time in the gym, how did you react and respond to this? Did you fight back by lashing out and indulging in a useless and meaningless argument or did you quietly take in what you were hearing and respond by working even harder during your next training session? How about the time you were told that you don’t have what it takes to make it in the world of bodybuilding? Did you accept the unwelcomed fate placed upon you by that individual or did you find that belief within yourself to forge on in spite of the doubt?
What happened the last time you posted that progress pic you felt displayed the improvements you had made? Did you receive praise or did negativity flood your feed? Did you thank the people who supported you and acknowledged your hard work or did you focus solely on snapping back at those who scoffed at your portfolio of progress and tried to make you feel less than? Your engagement, your reaction and your response to all types of compliments and criticism is important as it will show what you allow in and what you can easily disregard.
When you make your most personal possession a product for which others will see, you open yourself up to the opinions of others whether you want it or not. You have to accept that and then have skin thick enough that nothing bothers you. As you progress and your body changes, so too will the reaction and response of others. When this occurs, be above the fray, stay true to who you are, be genuine in how you do decide to react and respond to others and above all else, let your work do the talking for you.
There’s nothing better in this game than showing up and proving anyone who ever doubted you wrong. But don’t do it for that reason alone; do it for yourself. You have to forge ahead to appease your own goals and not the opinions of others. This is all about you and creating a better version of yourself for your own happiness and well-being. Let your actions and results do the talking for you and be above the hate. This will ensure your integrity as an individual will stay intact, your reputation solid and your game plan better than the rest.
